The Midea PortaSplit brings the performance of a fixed split air conditioner into your home, with no contractor, no building permit and no hole in the wall. The flat connection line is just 2.7 cm thin and fits through any tilted window. Setup takes about 10 minutes and the bracket needs no drilling at all.
With 3.5 kW of cooling power and energy class A++ (SEER 6.1) it cools rooms up to 42 m² quickly and efficiently. The loud part sits outside, so your bedroom stays at a calm 39 dB(A) in silent mode. Does the unit fit your room?
Room sizes are guide values. Attic floors, large window areas and poor insulation reduce performance.
What does it cost to run?
A cooling season of around 200 operating hours costs about CHF 25 to 35 in electricity with this unit. The math: an average draw of 400 to 550 watts times 200 hours times 30 centimes per kWh. A typical monobloc needs more than double for the same cooling effect.

Common questions about this unit
Yes. Nothing is drilled or permanently installed, the bracket clamps to the window. No permit is needed since the facade stays untouched. When you move out, you simply pack the unit up.
39 dB(A) in silent mode, about as quiet as a fridge. At full power it is clearly audible. Our tip for the night: pre-cool the room, then switch to silent. The outdoor unit reaches 56 dB(A), so be considerate of neighbours.
The fabric kit works but is the weakest part of the package. For continuous use we recommend our made-to-measure acrylic window panel or the reinforced textile kit. The window only stays open a crack, the line is 2.7 cm flat.
The refrigerant line is 2 m long and cannot be extended or detached. Plan the spot close to the window. In most living rooms and bedrooms that is not an issue.
Yes, the heat pump heats very efficiently at SCOP 4.0 and replaces a fan heater at a quarter of the consumption. Below about +2 degrees outside, the unit defrosts regularly and loses output. Strong as transitional heating, not meant as your only heat source in deep winter.
Cooling produces condensate at the outdoor unit. The drain is kept constructively simple. Our condensate hose kit with adapter carries the water away cleanly and prevents ice buildup in winter heating mode.
